aromatherapy is powerful and beautiful indeed. one of nature's many gifts to us. expect to become addicted. the best part is it allows you to bring a little "spa and massage" to your home routines. inhale a little "peace and calming" (the name of a great young living blend) before you turn in for the night. or put a drop on your pillow. use a little while you're reading, when your working, transition from work to home, a natural first aid. the uses are endless! aromatherapy is defined as the therapeutic use of essential oils, either by inhalation or application, to treat emotional and physical states. it has a documented history dating back to 3000 B.C. and is used worldwide. essential oil is the volatile oil obtained by a method of extraction (usually distallation) in which the oil retains the properties of the plant. for example, the peppermint plant has a strong and invigorating aroma. it is known to help increase concentration and the herb is highly regarded to aid in digestion. well, whatever the plant can do, the essential oil can do better! why? because the process of extraction retains the properties of the plant all the while making a product that is much more concentrated... there is NOTHING else added to the YOUNG LIVING products. other companies, use synthetic fragrance and/or add jojoba or cococut oil. why? because it's cheaper (and they can still label it "natural") (yikes!). BEWARE... rarely, i believe, does the average american come in contact with 100% pure essential oil. you can get it through YOUNG LIVING and i can get you a discount if you order from me. DID YOU KNOW:
each essential oil has an individual combination of constituents that interact with the body's chemistry in a direct manner. some very simplified examples... when inhaled, essential oil molecules enter the lungs, attach to oxygen molecules and circulate the body. when applied, essential oil molecules penetrate the skin, enter the bloodstream and again circulate the body. essential oils are then able to help heal, relax and maintain health. many essential oils are also stimulating to the immue system. DID YOU KNOW: that your sense of smell is the first sense that develops (think of how amazing it is that a newborn knows the smell of his/her mother!). your olfactory nerves go directly to your brain (and they don't even have far to travel). the olfactory nerves connect to your limbic system - which is the base for memory and emotion (think of a soldier far from home getting a letter from a loved one... the first thing they do is smell the letter to catch a glimmer of home... the smell takes them there). DID YOU KNOW: essential oils are quite expensive. here is an example why... it takes 30 roses to yield just 1 drop of pure rose essential oil. (think of how expensive just 1 dozen roses are at the florist). add into that equation the distillation process of how the essential oils are actually obtained and the fact that many selections need to be picked at a certain time of day (often before sunrise) to yield optimal results. oils come from all across the world. don't be surprised when their is such a small amount of oil in such a small bottle... it's liquid gold my friends! i am certain you will enjoy your aromatherapy experience! |
